The One About Starting From the End
Six years ago, in the last trimester of my pregnancy, I found myself obsessing over one question: *What does a contraction actually feel like?*
I knew it would hurt, and that the pain would build up. But where would it start? How would it move through my body? Where exactly would I feel it—and for how long? Just by hearing those questions, you can probably tell: I’m a bit of a control freak. I feel safe when I know what to expect. I like to know.
But here’s the spoiler: motherhood doesn’t care about your sense of safety or control. That’s a whole other story for another episode, but for now—let’s get back to contractions.
To prepare, I asked the women around me: *How does a contraction feel?* And do you know what they all said?
“You’ll know when it comes.”
Well… thanks for the non-answer.
Today, I understand what they meant. But six years later, I also recognize something else: as women, we have a huge labor ahead of us—pun intended. We need to do better when it comes to sharing knowledge and experiences. Because the truth is, we are constant seekers in a world that often wants us to feel isolated.
And that’s where **Bold Works: The Podcast** was born—out of my attempt to create a stronger community.
Women can help each other by easing the pain of our never-ending learning curves. This space is here to bring women together—to connect, to bond, to share, to feel—and most importantly, to do it together.
My main focus is on work environments. Why work? Because if you know me, you know how much “that space” matters to me. Work brings challenges, joy, and growth. It’s a space that shapes us, but it’s still mostly led by men. And I’m convinced we, as women, can reshape it—for ourselves, for those around us, and for those who come after us.
I’ll share more about this project in upcoming episodes. But today, I want to start with my own story: my latest midlife crisis
And that’s where this first story begins — how we face a crisis, what we learn from it, and how we come out stronger. So let’s dive in.
